Daniel Zizian appointed director general of CREPUQ

Montreal, September 6th, 2007 – The President of the Conference of Rectors and Principals of Quebec Universities (CREPUQ), Dr. Heather Munroe-Blum, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of McGill University, is pleased to announce the appointment of Daniel Zizian as Director General of CREPUQ effective September 1st.

A lawyer as well as an MBA, Mr. Zizian was Assistant Secretary General and Executive Secretary for Strategic Projects at HEC Montréal prior to his appointment. He had previously worked for the Quebec government, as Chief of Staff to the Minister of Education and Youth, and Vice-Chair of the Conseil du Trésor. Over the course of his career, Mr. Zizian has held various other positions in politics, communications and law, and has served as Executive Vice-President of the HEC Montréal Alumni Association. He has also been very active in the community, particularly in municipal politics, Cégep and hospital administration, and with charitable organisations.

“I am confident that Mr. Zizian will make a significant contribution to CREPUQ and to the Quebec university system as a whole,” commented Dr. Munroe-Blum. “His university experience and commitment to the cause of high quality, accessible university education will be undeniable assets as he takes on a leadership role at CREPUQ.”

All Executive Heads of Quebec universities are members of CREPUQ. The organisation provides coordination and a forum for dialogue among universities and represents them in their dealings with the government and groups concerned with university education and research.
