CREPUQ recognizes the contribution of Line Beauchamp to the cause of education and offers its support to Michelle Courchesne

Montreal, May 14, 2012 – The Conference of Rectors and Principals of Quebec Universities (CREPUQ) would like to acknowledge the significant contribution Line Beauchamp has made to the cause of education, particularly as concerns the approach to the future of universities in Quebec.

Ms. Beauchamp has consistently and sincerely expressed her belief that it is necessary to strengthen our university system so that it may continue to contribute fully to Quebec’s development. The University Funding Plan she presented in the government’s name will make the necessary refinancing of our university system possible, while ensuring that a university education is available to anyone with the appropriate desire and ability.

CREPUQ also congratulates Michelle Courchesne on her appointment as deputy premier and Minister of Education, Recreation and Sport, and offers her its fullest cooperation.

CREPUQ includes all 18 Quebec universities. The organization acts as their voice in relations with government and milieus concerned with university education and research. It also fosters coordination and collaboration between universities, is a research centre for university administrations, acts as a centre for coordination and joint service delivery, and is a resource centre and think tank for its members.
