Montreal, December 9, 2010 – The Conference of Rectors and Principals of Quebec Universities (CREPUQ) is pleased with the opinion paper published today by the Quebec Superior Council on Education called Les services offerts aux entreprises par le réseau de l’éducation : pour un meilleur accès aux ressources collectives (Services To Businesses Provided By The Education Network: Towards Improved Access To Collective Resources).
In the paper, which deals with continuing education, the Conseil stresses that services to business and continuing education courses available to the working population must be considered in terms of their overall impact on society. Various public bodies are called upon to contribute, including educational institutions.
“The opinion paper accurately describes the great flexibility of university continuing education programs, which include credit and non-credit courses as well as regular and custom-designed programs. A wealth of options is available,” said Denis Brière, Chair of the CREPUQ Board of Directors and Rector of Université Laval.
“Over the coming weeks, CREPUQ will undertake a more detailed analysis of the paper to identify how our universities might do even more to continue meeting our society’s needs for continuing education,” noted Daniel Zizian, President and Director General of CREPUQ.
CREPUQ includes all Quebec universities. The organization acts as their voice in relations with government and milieus concerned with university education and research. It also fosters coordination and collaboration between universities, is a research centre for university administrations, acts as a centre for coordination and joint service delivery, and is a resource centre and think tank for its members.
