Montreal, November 22, 2010 – The Conference of Rectors and Principals of Quebec Universities (CREPUQ) launched a new website today, giving the public access to reliable, comparable data about universities in Quebec. The portal is known as EDUCQ – Ensemble de données universitaires communes – Québec (Common University Data – Quebec) and can be accessed at http://www.crepuq.qc.ca/educq/.
“This project is in keeping with our desire to make public a variety of information and statistics about Quebec universities. The site should answer many of the questions raised by future students, their families, the media and the general public,” said Denis Brière, Chair of the CREPUQ Board of Directors and Rector of Université Laval.
“For a number of years, Quebec universities have been engaged in a process of continuous reporting, and the EDUCQ portal is part of that process. It presents a standardized set of data that is current, reliable and comparable,” noted Daniel Zizian, President and Director General of CREPUQ.
About EDUCQ All Quebec universities have sophisticated information systems, but for the occasional user, searching each one individually for particular information can be a time-consuming process. The EDUCQ portal is specifically designed to present all the data in a standardized format, compiled for the purposes of easy access and comparison between institutions.
The data presented at the EDUCQ portal cover all the basic steps in obtaining a university education, from submitting an application to obtaining a degree to entering the work force. Among other things, users can see how many students are enrolled in which disciplines at each university, and get answers to frequently asked questions about professors, research, libraries and finances.
About CREPUQ CREPUQ includes all Quebec universities. The organization acts as their voice in relations with government and milieus concerned with university education and research. It also fosters coordination and collaboration between universities, is a research centre for university administrations, acts as a centre for coordination and joint service delivery, and is a resource centre and think tank for its members.
