Integrating students with disabilities: Increasing awareness of Quebec university expertise

Montreal, October 25, 2010 – As part of the Rencontre des partenaires en éducation dealing with the integration of students with disabilities, which takes place today in Quebec City, the Conference of Rectors and Principals of Quebec Universities (CREPUQ) is hoping to promote Quebec university expertise in the field.

“CREPUQ has identified the resources available at Quebec universities, all of which work hard to integrate students with disabilities in regular classes and ensure their success. Researchers in many of our universities are, in fact, working very hard to learn more about the specific aspects of this important issue,” said Denis Brière, Chair of the CREPUQ Board of Directors and Rector of Université Laval.

“Our universities feel very strongly that their research expertise must be made available for society to use. That is an integral part of their social mission. The hope is that university research can help Quebec society meet the challenges of integrating students with disabilities,” added Daniel Zizian, President and Director General of CREPUQ.
