Montreal – October 27, 2009 – University Studies in Quebec is launching the first “Experience the Difference” video competition for university students across Quebec. All students registered in a Quebec university are invited to make a video of their university experience presenting their unique and creative vision of student life in Quebec, their particular university and the city or town where it is located.
Contestants have until December 15, 2009, to submit a short video – documentary, fiction, animation, etc., running 1 to 2.5 minutes – at http://www.universitesquebecoises.ca under “Contests.” The winner will receive an Apple Store gift certificate worth $500.
A jury will select finalists based on originality, artistic value, technical quality and ability to generate interest in Quebec university life among students around the world.
The finalists will be shown at http://www.universitesquebecoises.ca from December 15, 2009, to February 15, 2010. During that time, visitors to the website may vote for the video of their choice. Votes will be entered electronically at the site, one vote per person. The winning video will be announced on February 16, 2010.
This competition is an initiative of the Subcommittee on International Recruitment of the Conference of Rectors and Principals of Quebec Universities (CREPUQ). As part of a project to encourage international students to study at Quebec universities, the videos will present some intriguing and personal views of university life in Quebec.
CREPUQ includes all Quebec universities. The organization acts as their voice in relations with government and sectors related to higher education. It also fosters coordination and collaboration between universities, is a research centre for university administrations, acts as a centre for coordination and joint service delivery, and is a resource centre and think tank for its members.
